inhalant dependence

in DSM–IV–TR, a pattern of repeated or compulsive use of inhalants despite significant inhalant-related behavioral, physiological, and psychosocial problems and tolerance and characteristic withdrawal symptoms if use is suspended. In DSM–5, inhalant dependence and inhalant abuse have been subsumed into inhalant use disorder and are no longer considered distinct diagnoses. See also substance dependence.
