an autosomal aberration marked by thickening and osteosclerosis of bones of the face, skull, and trunk, resulting in facial paralysis and loss of hearing and vision. The symptoms usually begin around puberty. [Francis Steven Peter van Buchem (1897–1979), Dutch physician]
