scala media

scala media

one of the three canals that run the length of the cochlea in the inner ear. Located between the scala vestibuli and scala tympani, it is filled with fluid (endolymph) and is delimited by Reissner’s membrane, the highly vascular stria vascularis, and the basilar membrane, which supports the organ of Corti. Also called cochlear duct.
