compression

n. in neurology, pressure on the brain, spinal cord, or a nerve. Compression inside the skull raises intracranial pressure and may be caused by, for example, edema, hydrocephalus, or a tumor. Symptoms include motor disorders and disturbances of sensation, memory, or consciousness.
