postchiasmatic visual deficit

postchiasmatic visual deficit

a visual impairment caused by damage to visual processing areas posterior to (i.e., beyond) the optic chiasm, such as the optic radiations or striate cortex. Postchiasmatic injury or disease affects vision in both eyes (see homonymous hemianopia). Also called retrochiasmatic visual deficit.
