olfactory cortex

olfactory cortex

a three-layered area of cerebral cortex at the base of the temporal lobe that is attached to the olfactory bulb and devoted to the sense of smell. The olfactory cortex receives and interprets information from olfactory receptors in the nasal cavity and is involved in the identification of odors.
