n. regions of the cerebral cortex that are the most recently evolved and contain six main layers of cells. Neocortex, which comprises the majority of human cerebral cortex, includes the primary sensory and motor cortex and association cortex. Also called neopallium. Compare allocortex. —neocortical adj.
