homozygous

adj. possessing identical forms of a gene (i.e., identical alleles) at a given genetic locus on each of a pair of homologous chromosomes. Either autosomal dominant (see dominant allele) or autosomal recessive (see recessive allele) conditions are expressed when the individual is homozygous for that condition.
