dilemma

dilemma

n. a situation necessitating a choice between two equally desirable or undesirable alternatives. Psychologists, economists, or sociologists may invent dilemmas and present them to individuals or groups to study decision making. See ethical dilemma; prisoner’s dilemma; social dilemma.
