n.

1. the state in which two or more people relate harmoniously because their attitudes, traits, and desires match or complement those of the other or others.

2. in philosophy, the position that free will and determinism are congruent and can, in some sense, coexist. Compare incompatibility. See also soft determinism. —compatible adj.
