central nucleus

central nucleus

a nucleus forming part of the corticomedial group in the amygdala within the brain. It receives input from other amygdaloid nuclei and projects to the hypothalamus and many brainstem structures, including the periaqueductal gray. It is involved (among other things) in fear behavior.
