cancer phobia

a persistent and irrational fear of cancer, which may be a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder or generalized anxiety disorder; it may also be classified as a specific phobia, other type. The belief that one actually has cancer based on a misinterpretation of bodily symptoms is classified as hypochondriasis.
