autonomic dysfunction

autonomic dysfunction

dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, including impairment, failure, or overactivity of sympathetic or parasympathetic functioning. The dysfunction may be local or generalized, acute or chronic, and is associated with a number of disorders. Also called autonomic neuropathy; dysautonomia. See also familial dysautonomia.
