addictive drug

any psychoactive substance that has a high likelihood of producing substance dependence. Such substances include alcohol, amphetamines and amphetamine-like CNS stimulants, caffeine, cocaine and crack, hallucinogens, inhalants, nicotine, opioids, PCP (phencyclidine) and phencyclidine-like substances, and CNS depressants.
