implicit measure
a measurement of a psychological construct that is obtained while the individual being assessed is unaware that the measurement is taking place, often used to assess attitudes, stereotypes, and emotions in social cognition research. Typically, an implicit measure is assessed as a response outcome of an experimental procedure in which the participant is engaged in a cognitive task. For example, a word-stem completion task might be employed to assess emotion implicitly such that jo_ could be completed to form a positive emotional word (e.g., joy) or a neutral word (e.g., jog).
