1. the deliberate assumption of another person’s identity, usually as a means of gaining status or other advantage. See also impostor syndrome.

2. the imitation of another person’s behavior or mannerisms, which is sometimes done for its corrective or therapeutic effect on one’s own behavior (e.g., to gain insight).
