adj. below threshold. For example, an imperceptible difference is a physical difference between two stimulus events that is below an observer’s difference threshold. This results in the two events being judged as the same psychologically when they are not the same physically.

Meckel’s syndrome

a congenital disorder marked by microcephaly; eye, ear, and olfactory abnormalities; and varying degrees of brain-tissue anomalies. Some affected children show premature closure of skull sutures.
