hysterectomy

hysterectomy

n. the surgical removal of the uterus. It may be total hysterectomy, including excision of the cervix; subtotal hysterectomy, in which only the uterus above the cervix is removed; or radical hysterectomy, with excision of a part of the vagina with the uterus and cervix.
