hazard rate

in hazard analysis, a value used to indicate the immediate potential or risk of an event’s occurrence at a particular instance in time. It often is used in health studies and will vary depending on the time point of interest. For example, a hazard rate may be used to determine whether an individual who is abstinent from alcohol or drugs at 6 months is likely to relapse in the near future.
