harmonic

harmonic

n. a pure-tone component whose frequency is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency. For example, the third harmonic of 500 Hz is 1500 Hz. An overtone is a harmonic, but the numbering is different: 1500 Hz is the second overtone of 500 Hz.
