hard sell

an attempt to sell a product or service by using strong persuasive or compliance techniques, such as setting artificial deadlines or offering special deals to encourage potential buyers to commit themselves. A hard sell can be compared to a soft sell, in which more unobtrusive methods are used and little pressure is placed on the consumer to make an immediate decision.
