flash card

one of a series of small pieces of cardboard or paper with questions and answers written or printed on them, used as a learning aid. Often, a question is on the front of the flash card and the answer is on the back. A student reads the question, gives an answer, and then is able to turn the card over to see the correct answer. Flash cards are commonly used in rapid succession and aid memorization of a fact or concept.
