fistula

n. an abnormal passageway between two internal organs or between an internal organ and the outside of the body. A fistula may develop as a result of an injury or infection, as a congenital defect, or as a result of a surgical procedure. Sexual violence may result in traumatic fistula (or traumatic gynecologic fistula).
