Fernald method

an approach to reading based on the idea that students learn best when material is presented to several different senses. These methods, which employ tracing, hearing, writing, and seeing, are often referred to as VAKT (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile). The Fernald method teaches whole words. [Grace Fernald (1879–1950), U.S. psychologist]
