Farber’s lipogranulomatosis

a disorder of lipid metabolism characterized by the development of nodules and pigmentation of the skin. The upper extremities are affected, with arthritic swelling and erosion of the bones. Normal body tissues are infiltrated and replaced by foam cells. Respiratory distress and intellectual disability appear at a very early age. [Sydney Farber (1903–1973), U.S. pediatric pathologist]
