existential anxiety

1. in existentialism, the angst associated with one’s freedom as a human being to make choices; with one’s responsibility for the consequences of those choices; and with the sense that one’s existence is devoid of absolute meaning and purpose given that such choices occur in the absence of rational certainty or structure.
