doxepin
n. a tricyclic antidepressant, among the most sedating and most anticholinergic of these agents. Although it currently has little use as an antidepressant, it may be used in relatively low doses as a hypnotic, for treatment of insomnia, or in the management of neuromuscular or musculoskeletal pain. It is also available as a topical treatment for management of dermatologic conditions. U.S. trade names: Adapin; Silenor; Sinequan.
