  2. dispersion parameter

dispersion parameter

dispersion parameter

an index of the skewness (lopsidedness) or kurtosis (peakedness) of a distribution. The normal distribution thus does not need a dispersion parameter as skewness and kurtosis are not present (i.e., equal zero) in such a distribution. Also called scale parameter.
