depth psychology

depth psychology

a general approach to psychology and psychotherapy that focuses on unconscious mental processes as the source of emotional disturbance and symptoms, as well as of personality, attitudes, creativity, and lifestyle. Typical examples are classical psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy, but others include Carl Jung’s analytic psychology and Alfred Adler’s individual psychology.
