decerebration

n. loss of the ability to discriminate, learn, and control movements as a result of transection of the brainstem, surgical removal of the cerebrum, or cutting off of the cerebral blood supply. Decerebrate (adj.) describes a human or nonhuman animal that has experienced decerebration; such an individual is also known as a decerebrate (n.).
