an enzyme that occurs in the inner membrane of mitochondria and is important in aerobic respiration. “Blobs” of cytochrome oxidase activity have been demonstrated in the visual cortex.

n. a training device that simulates the conditions or environment of the actual operating situation or that resembles the actual equipment to be used, such as a flight simulator for pilots. The training allows for a safe, lower-cost experience with the conditions under study but may lack realism.
