cutting

cutting

n. the act of cutting oneself, usually on the wrist or inside of the forearm. Often accompanied by a sense of heightened arousal and little sensation of pain, it occurs most frequently in the context of borderline personality disorder and major depressive episodes. See also deliberate self-harm.
