covert positive reinforcement

covert positive reinforcement

in behavior therapy, a technique in which a person imagines performing a desired behavior that is followed by a pleasant consequence and subsequently rehearsing the behavior in the hope that it will eventually be adopted. Also called covert reinforcement. Compare covert negative reinforcement.
