n. in linguistics, a conditional statement that is contrary to fact, as in If the Japanese had not bombed Pearl Harbor, the United States would not have become engaged in World War II. See conditional clause.

sex-chromosomal aberration

any disorder of structure, function, or both that is associated with the complete or partial absence of a sex chromosome or with the presence of extra sex chromosomes. Examples of such disorders are Klinefelter’s syndrome, XYY syndrome, and Turner syndrome.
