cosleeping

n. a practice in which one or both parents sleep in the same room with their infant, near enough for them to touch. Cosleeping arrangements may include three-sided bassinets that attach to the adult bed or cribs placed next to the bed. These arrangements are thought to promote bonding, encourage breastfeeding, and improve infant sleep. See also bed-sharing.
