the notion that there is a maximum correlation that can be obtained between tests of intelligence and the criteria that these tests are intended to predict, such as various measures of life success. Typically, such tests have only a moderate relationship (e.g., correlation coefficients between .3 and .5) with school performance and measures of success in later life.
