a state of incompatibility among an individual’s or group’s various interests and motivations, particularly when professional interests and responsibilities are inconsistent with personal motives and goals. For example, psychologists who are employed by a health agency may find that their obligation to help their clients is incompatible with the agency’s requirement to minimize treatment costs.
