n. in physiology, the transmission of excitation along a nerve, muscle, or other tissue. In a neuron, subthreshold stimulation results in decremental conduction, whereas suprathreshold stimulation results in a propagated action potential, or nerve impulse.

mammography

n. a diagnostic procedure that uses low-dose X-ray photography to detect breast tumors or other abnormalities, either noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). The X-ray negative produced is called a mammogram.
