community ergonomics

the application of ergonomic principles and practices to address cumulative social trauma in complex societal systems. Community ergonomics focuses on distressed community settings characterized by poverty, social isolation, dependency, and low levels of self-regulation and control. In practice, community ergonomics seeks to identify and implement a community–environment interface to bridge the gap between the disadvantaged residents of a community and the resources defining the social environment within which they function.
