codification-of-rules stage

in Jean Piaget’s theory of moral development, the stage at which children of 11 and 12 years of age and older view rules as binding once they are agreed to, and games are seen as a system of interconnecting laws. Although the awareness of rules emerges at an earlier age, systematic adherence is not manifested until the codification-of-rules stage.
