clonazepam

clonazepam

n. a highly potent benzodiazepine originally developed to treat absence seizures but now used for the treatment of panic disorder and other anxiety disorders and as a mood stabilizer. Because it has a slow onset of action, long half-life, and slow rate of clearance, it needs to be taken less frequently (twice a day) than some other benzodiazepines. U.S. trade name: Klonopin.
