classroom-behavior modification
an instructor’s use of basic learning techniques, such as conditioning, to alter the behavior of the students within a learning environment. Specifically, classroom-behavior modification may utilize such methods as adjusting classroom seating, providing a flexible time deadline for assignments, or altering the lesson requirements. Direct intervention, however, is the most effective modification procedure, using cognitive behavioral techniques to address inappropriate classroom behavior. Such procedures are most useful for students with learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other special needs.
