chromesthesia

n. a type of synesthesia in which perception of nonvisual stimuli (e.g., sounds, tastes, odors) is accompanied by color sensations. Strictly speaking, chromesthesia is not a conscious juxtaposition of two different sense perceptions: The two perceptions coincide as responses to the same stimulus (e.g., the musical note G may be consistently experienced as blue). Also called pseudochromesthesia.
