chiasmal syndrome

chiasmal syndrome

loss of visual acuity and abnormalities of the visual field associated with damage to the optic chiasm and the adjacent optic nerve or optic tract. Typical features are bitemporal hemianopia and optic atrophy. The majority of cases are caused by brain tumors.
