central conceptual structure

a theoretical integrated repository of mental operations and network of concepts and relationships relevant to a particular domain of experience (e.g., the domain of numbers) and important to task performance. Central conceptual structures are one of two mechanisms proposed by Canadian developmental psychologist Robbie Case (1944–2000) as guiding learning and thinking processes in children, the other being the executive control structure.
