carbon monoxide poisoning

a toxic disorder resulting from inhalation of carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas. Depending on the severity of the exposure, symptoms, which are produced by lack of oxygen, range from headache and light-headedness to an acute, transient state of confusion and delirium to deep coma followed by permanent brain damage and death by asphyxiation. Also called carbon monoxide intoxication.

active therapy

any form of psychotherapy in which the therapist assumes an active, directive role. An active therapist may express opinions, offer interpretations, make suggestions and recommendations, give advice about the client’s actions and decisions, issue injunctions and prohibitions, or urge the client to take a particular action, such as facing an anxiety-provoking situation directly.
