brown fat

tissue made up of fat cells (see adipocyte) that is found especially around vital organs in the trunk and around the spinal column in the neck and chest. It is capable of intense metabolic activity to generate heat. See also adipose tissue.

Bekhterev’s nystagmus

a form of nystagmus that develops after the loss of a second labyrinth. Nystagmus occurs after the destruction of the first of the two labyrinths but eventually subsides, only to recur as a compensatory effect after loss of the second labyrinth.
