Brandeis brief

a summary presented to the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Muller v. Oregon in 1908 that outlined the damaging effects on women of long working hours. It is considered to be one of the first examples of a legal brief that relies on extensive documentation of social science research in its argument. sibling

n. one of two or more children born of the same two parents (i.e., a sister or brother). Also called sib.
