n. a device that supports or maintains the correct positioning of a part of the body, such as a limb, a joint, or the spine. Braces may be designed to permit flexion and motion and are typically intended for permanent or long-term use. They are distinct from splints, which are used to temporarily immobilize or protect a part of the body.
