behavioral coping

any strategy in which a person manages a stressful event or situation by modifying his or her actions. As with the converse cognitive coping, behavioral coping has several forms, including seeking social support or otherwise obtaining help from others, directly attempting to resolve the problematic situation, adjusting customary activities (e.g., by beginning an exercise routine, going on vacation), and expressing emotions.
